"My favourite part about back-end development is the problem it throws at you. When you're dealing with powering the logic behind an application, it feels almost like your solving a puzzle." - Unknown

In a blog prior to this one, I spoke about web development and the impact that front-end developers have. Now, I want to speak about back-end developers and their role in the development process. This is one of the careers that I can have after my program is done, therefore it's important to highlight this because back-end is crucial in the development process. There are many tasks that a backend developer does, therefore I am going to do my best to summarise it.

According to an article by Coursera, "backend developers are the experts who build and maintain the mechanisms that process data and perform actions on websites.........are involved in data storage, security, and other server-side functions that you cannot see." This is why back-end is super important because you maybe trying to click to a function on a website, or go to another page on the domain, and the functions surronding that are all considered back-end. There are many responsibilities that a backend developer has which I have below,

  • Build and maintain websites

  • Write high-quality code

  • Perform quality assurance testing

  • Assess efficiency and speed

  • Troubleshoot and debug

  • Train and Support

Back-end developers make around $100,000 per year on average for entry level positions, according to Talent.com. Now this amount of money would do so much for me as a person because basically I have not been able to make a good enough salary in my twenties to live on my own and be fully independent. This is why, it's important to venture into tech and make these high salaries so that I can live on my own and one day make a start-up.

If you are trying to build a saas tool, a software from scratch your going to have to have some cash on hand to invest in the technology to make a minimum viable product so that you can test business viability and then scale. This is one of the reasons why I created this blog was to put myself out there and grasp these concepts for me and my audience so I can meet more people that are like-minded and want to solve big problems. With that being said, I hope you enjoy the blog and stay tuned for more soon, peace.
