"First solve the problem, then write the code." - John Johnson

In the last blog, that I spoke on I talked about software development and touched a bit on the software development life cycle, also the benefits a business has when they adopt software development in their best practices. Now I want to speak about the role of a software developer, how much money they earn, and what responsibilities you can expect a software developer to have.

According to an article by the Government of Canada, "software developers and programmers design, write, and test codes for new systems and software to ensure efficiency. They create the foundations for operative systems and run diagnostic programs to certify effectiveness. They are employed by computer software, computer and video game development firms, information technology consultant firms, and information technology units throughout the private and public sectors." This is the fundamental role of software developers and they get paid exceptionally well, especially since we are in the information age. An article by Job Bank from the Government of Canada states that software developers get paid $24.25/hour at the lowest and then it goes up to $43.00/hr median, and lastly the most can up to $60.00/hour, is the highest in Ontario.

This is one of the reasons why I transitioned to technology because these wages would be able to change my life forever. Trying to make my own startup in music, while trying to impact the tech industry wasn't a wrong approach, but rather a trial and error and in turn I learned so much of the impact that software has on the world itself and how much innovation is happening each and everyday. Yesterday was the perfect time to get into technology and software development because not only do software developers get substantial amounts of money, work-life balance, remote work, but if you were to create your own software and license it out to companies you can have a recurring revenue model which can lead to financial freedom and can bank roll any other venture you would want to do. Being a software developer is not easy work, it's going to challenge me, but the rewards and money definitely are a driving force to get into the industry and change the trajectory of my life!! I hope you enjoy the blog and stay tuned for more soon, peace!! :)
